Since 2011, this organization has fulfilled its mission of bringing classical chamber music to rural communities, schools and youth programs in free and pay-what-you-can concerts. We have offered hundreds of musicians once-in-a-lifetime residencies in spectacular settings, we have commissioned new works from living composers, and we have brought pianos and other instruments to deserving communities.

1. Education and Outreach
We have played Debussy in elementary schools, we have played Schumann in summer camps, and we have introduced thousands of kids to music new and old! We have presented "Peter and the Wolf", "Carnival of the Animals", and a new commissioned version of Kipling's "Just So Stories" for over 15,000 students across California! We understand how important it is that students and families have access to fun, educational, and engaging music, and we think this deserves your support! 2. Community Concerts
Every year we present over 35 public concerts - most of them free and open to the public. Many of the communities we serve are in rural Northern California, with little access to cultural amenities like world-class chamber music. Many of our fans, both young and old, have discovered the joy of being "up close and personal" with this kind of music through our free public concerts. |
3. New Music and Composers
Earlier we mentioned our commissioned kid-friendly arrangement of Kipling's "Just So Stories," for narrator and chamber ensemble. Composer Danny Clay wrote that piece for us, and also another commissioned work called "Ocean Park". In fact - we have brought many composers to the Festival to take part in our concert series and the creation of new music, including Max Stoffregen, John Glover, and Stephen Kahn. We have also performed works by some of our favorite living composers - including Caroline Shaw, Shelley Washington, Jessie Montgomery, Scott Gendel, and more! |
4. Piano Project
Some of our supporters have chosen an interesting way to donate to the festival - they offer us a grand piano! To date, we have found deserving homes for THREE grand pianos. Venues where we regularly present concerts deserve to have a good instrument, and we have been diligent in helping repair, restore, maintain, and move pianos where they can help bring more music into the world. Currently we are in the process of moving a 9-foot Chickering Concert Grand to the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center, a beautiful theater in Weaverville, California, and we are beginning the process of restoring a gorgeous Steinway M, donated by our dear friend Holly Eliot, so that it too can be a part of our active musical lives! |
5. Support a Musician
Our Festival offers young professional musicians career opportunities, to engage in communities, immerse themselves in their craft, and forge bonds with other professionals during our Summer and Winter residencies. They are rewarded with concert programs rich with great music, with a tour experience like no other, and with the incredible experience of our residency on a working farm in the beautiful Trinity Alps. Think of just one musician - surely someone stands out in your mind from a recent concert experience? Perhaps it was something they said about the music, that helped draw you into the performance? Perhaps it was the way their personality and flair came through in their performance? Perhaps it was a sound they created from their string or wind instrument that gave you goosebumps. |
